Youth Development Society of Sikkim (YODESS)

YODESS is a non – profit making, nonpolitical, secular and developmental oriented non government grass root organization established with joint hand effort of ten enthusiasm youth / women from different parts of the state of Sikkim with their different developmental key excellence profile. It had been formally registered under Societies Act 1860 in the year 2006. With the initiative to sustain the platform created as facilitator for the society, YODESS always realizes that the NGOs role should be professional as systematic as distinct, so that the key developmental inputs as holistic approach for economic empowerment can be run by the society itself with the concept by the people, for the people and of the people.

                                                        18th Ship for World Youth, Government of Japan



Mr. M. K. Gurung, Executive Secretary, YODESS, who is a National Youth Awardee had been selected by Govt. of India in the year 2006 based on his outstanding contribution to the youth/women and poorer community to participate 18th Ship for World Youth Program organized by Government of Japan. Out of 12 pre-selected Indian youth he was the one youth participant from India who got selected for this 45 days foreign tour program and by completing it successfully he brought a proud to the community he belongs, the State of Sikkim and to the organization!!

On its ongoing outstanding contribution rendered for the development of the youths and the community in the district as well as as in the state level, YODESS had been awarded as the State & the District Level Youth Club by NYK, Gangtok under Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Govt. of India.
